Domo Daruma is a love letter to Japan.

Born and raised in the 80s and 90s, I was very much influenced by Japanese pop culture without even knowing it. Super Mario. Ranma 1/2. Voltron. Transformers toys. Ninjas. Hayao Miyazaki. Power Rangers. Neon Genesis Evangelion. Playstation. Cowboy Bebop. Akira Kurosawa & The Seven Samurai. Naruto...

Once I figured it all came from one country, it was a no-brainer that I had to visit some day.

That "some day" was four trips and about 6 years, 1 month, and 2 weeks worth of extensive traveling, self-discovery, love & adventure. There were the charms, conflicts, terrible passion and equally terrible misery (the very definition of love). In the end, it's just this constant gratitude for the country. The Land of the Rising Sun will always shine on for me.

While I have (mostly) moved on from the Japanese pop culture scene, the other stories, and tales of the country's rich history still amazes me to this day. So the goal of Domo Daruma is to showcase about all things Japan that seasoned and upcoming Japanophiles can truly appreciate.

Thanks for reading.
